Have you noticed Google’s new look today? I looked into it and found that around this time in August is the Annual Perseid Meteor Shower. Unfortunately, last night (August 11) was the optimal time to view the meteors, but I’ll be out tonight trying to get a glimpse and take a few shots with my camera as well. “The Magicians” by best selling author Lev Grossman was released today. Aimed at adults, like a grown-up version of Harry Potter, “The Magicians” is an exploration of the high price of magic practiced by real people in the real world, according to Examiner.com. Season 5 of Criss’ show on A&E, Mindfreak, premiers Wednesday August 12th. In the five part event dubbed “5 ways to live, 5 ways to die,” Criss will once again defy death. According to aetv.com, “in each episode, Criss will attempt never-before-seen effects, often placing his own safety – even his life – on the line.”

This weekend, Colon, Michigan hosts their annual magic festival. Starting tomorrow, the self-proclaimed “Magic Capital of the World” will be host to the “Abbott’s Magic Get-Together,” a four-day convention featuring seminars, demonstrations, and public performances by some of the world’s leading illusionists. The town is home to Abbot’s Magic Manufacturing Company, the largest producer of magic paraphernalia in the world.
